Kingdom Emeralds opened in 2015 in the Old Town of Cartagena de Indias, steps from the Teatro Heredia: over a decade working Colombian emerald. Every piece is designed and made in our workshop, with emeralds from Muzo and Chivor, and is handed over with its certificate.

Dozens of serious, regulated jewelers operate in Cartagena's Old Town. What sets Kingdom apart is that the workshop sits inside the store: the piece you acquire was designed, cast and set at this very address.

02 The origin
The stone is not born in Cartagena
Colombian emerald forms in western Boyacá, under geological conditions found nowhere else on earth. Muzo and Chivor lie there, and from there comes the stone you will see on the table.

You choose the green before we set it
An emerald is not valued for the name of its mine, but for color, clarity and cut. We present the loose stones, explain what you are looking at, and only then do we discuss the setting.

04 The process
From loose stone to finished piece
Four stages, all under one roof. The client may be present at any of them.
The stone is chosen
We present loose stones and explain color, clarity and cut. Nothing is decided without seeing them.
The piece is drawn
The sketch settles the final form: setting, metal, measurements and accompanying stones.
It is made in the workshop
Casting, assembly and setting all happen on the premises, in the client’s view.
Certified and handed over
The piece leaves with its certificate, its one-year warranty and, where applicable, the tax free paperwork.

06 Certification
Every piece declares what it is
Each piece is handed over with the Kingdom certificate, stating which stone it is, the metal it is set in and any treatment it has received. If an emerald is treated, the document says so.

What we are asked most
Are the emeralds natural?
Yes. We work exclusively with natural Colombian emerald from Muzo and Chivor. The certificate accompanying each piece states the species and any treatment.
May I see the workshop?
Yes. The workshop is inside the store and the goldsmiths work in plain view. If you wish to watch your piece being set, we will arrange the time.
Do you make pieces to order, and how long does it take?
Yes. The time depends on the piece and is counted in days, not hours. If your trip is short, we can advance the stone selection and the design by WhatsApp before you arrive.
Can I claim back the tax?
Foreign visitors may recover around 12% of the purchase value through the tax free program. We assist with the paperwork in store; it should be requested before payment.
Do you ship abroad?
Yes, by insured courier. Cost and delivery time are quoted according to the destination.
Do I need an appointment?
It is not required: we open every day from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm. If you book on WhatsApp, we set aside the time to attend you without hurry.
What does it mean for an emerald to be oiled?
It is the most common treatment in the trade: surface-reaching fissures are filled to improve clarity. It is legitimate and internationally accepted, provided it is declared. At Kingdom it is written into the certificate.
